Kerry PPN was delighted to attend a number of training events for Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) Representatives during April & May and to share the training materials here.

Training Event 1:

In April 2025 a Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) Induction Training event was delivered in partnership with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD), Public Participation Networks Ireland (PPN), and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA).

Training Event 2: 

In May 2025 The Irish Environmental Network hosted an online session with Cllr. Dermot O’Brien focusing on ‘How to make impactful contributions as a PPN representative on an SPC committee’.

In the session Councillor Dermot ‘Daisy’ O’Brien shared his experience and insights into working on an SPC. Dermot gave a wonderful introduction to engaging with the Strategic Policy Committees, including an overview of what an SPC meeting looks like at its best. The session set up what expectations you should have for an SPC meeting, including expectations of how a PPN representative should be treated and included.
