Age Friendly Kerry
Age Friendly Kerry is a Kerry County Council programme, aligned with the World Health Organization, designed to make the county an age friendly, inclusive, and accessible place for people of all ages, particularly those growing older.
The Older People’s Council (OPC) Kerry is a key part of the structure of the Age Friendly Kerry programme administered by Kerry County Council. The OPC Kerry centers on the voice of the older person in the decision-making process in the Age Friendly Kerry programme and in other fora.
OPC Kerry is a two-tier structure that comprises of:
- A wide membership base of individual older people and representatives of older people’s groups, known as the Over 55s’ Network.
- An Executive Committee, of individuals elected from the Over 55s’ Network.
The Over 55s’ Network is a network of volunteer-led organisations who are registered members of the Kerry PPN and have group members over 55 years of age.
The Over 55s’ Network is the voice of older people in Kerry. Through this network older people exercise a strong guiding influence on age friendly local development and policy making. By joining this network your group will receive updates on Kerry Age Friendly Programme initiatives and events. Your group members over 55 years of age will also have the opportunity to participate in the Older People’s Council Executive.
If your group would like to sign up to the Over 55s’ network then contact us at ppn@kerrycoco.ie or 066 7183686.
