Disability Linkage Group
The Kerry PPN Disability Linkage Group brings together community groups and provides an opportunity to discuss shared goals, exchange valuable insights, and advocate for positive change for people with disabilities.
The establishment of the Kerry PPN Disability Linkage Group in 2024 represented a significant step forward in fostering a more inclusive and accessible Kerry.
The Kerry PPN Disability Linkage Group aims to play a vital role in advocating for policy changes on behalf of the community. By actively participating in the Kerry PPN Disability Linkage Group, members have the opportunity to nominate or, in some cases, elect representatives to sit on Boards and Committees established by the Local Authority and other community stakeholders. These representatives, in turn, take direction from the Linkage Group, ensuring that the concerns, issues and views of the community are accurately conveyed to the various decision-making boards, discussed, and kept on the agenda until addressed in a satisfactory manner.
The Kerry PPN Disability Linkage Group actively promotes an inter-agency approach to address the diverse needs of individuals with disabilities, collaborating closely with organisations such as Healthy Kerry, Age Friendly, and the Disability Federation of Ireland, as well as Kerry County Council.
The Disability Linkage Group also acts as a hub around which important information on disability issues, meetings and events are shared
