Secretariat Nominations Now Open: January 2026

Nominations are now being invited from PPN member groups to a fill vacancy on the Kerry PPN Secretariat
We are currently seeking nominations to fill the following seats:
- Environmental Pillar Seat X 1
What is the Kerry PPN Secretariat?
The Kerry PPN Secretariat is the administrative body that oversee the operations of the PPN.
The purpose of the Secretariat is:
- To ensure the aims and objectives of the Kerry Public Participation Network are met.
- To ensure that member groups are informed of developments relevant to their groups.
- To represent member group’s interests.
- To develop Kerry Public Participation Network into an effective collective voice for community groups in Kerry.
- To ensure the proper functioning of the PPN between Plenary meetings.
- To facilitate the implementation of the decisions of the Plenary.
- To support the Kerry PPN staff to achieve the PPN’s objectives through the implementation of the Annual Work Plan.
- To engage with and support the PPN Representatives.
- To operate as defined under Section 46 of the Local Government Reform Act 2014.
What skills and attributes are needed for the position ?
- Good communication skills
- Experience of working and/or volunteering in the member group the candidate is selected from.
- Team player
- Experience of working on boards or committees
- A keen interest and awareness of general issues in the pillar the candidate represents.
- All PPN reps are required to sign the Representatives Charter and to adhere to PPN reporting mechanisms, constitution, policies.
- A commitment to attend meetings and events and participate fully in the duties of the Secretariat. One Secretariat meeting is held each month (travel expenses are reimbursed for any travel to Secretariat meetings). Meetings are currently held at 6.30pm on the last Thursday of each month.
Terms are for a maximum of 5 years.
Nominations Process
Any person who wants to be considered as a member of the Kerry PPN Secretariat must:
- Be an active member of a group registered with Kerry PPN (group must be registered at least 6 months) and be nominated by that group. (You can view your group membership details the Members’ Directory here)
- Complete the nomination form in full.
- Ensure they understand the responsibilities, time commitment and required meeting attendance relating to the position. Details above.
- Be proposed and seconded by 2 leading members of your PPN Member group (e.g. Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer).
- Understand that Kerry PPN is non-political, non-sectarian and adheres to the Circular CVSP 8/2018 – PPNs Engagement in the Political Process.
Notes:
- Only PPN member groups within the Environmental Pillar/College can nominate candidates for the Environmental seat. You can view your group membership details the Members’ Directory here
- In the event of more nominations than vacancies available an election will be held.
- A panel will be created following the election process to fill any current or future vacant positions.
- All Kerry PPN representatives are expected to gather and present the views and opinions of member organisations (including but not limited to his/her own group) from the PPN pillar/college or MD area that nominated them.
- All Kerry PPN representatives are required to sign the Representatives Charter and to adhere to Kerry PPN reporting mechanisms, constitutions and policies.
