Local Democracy Taskforce Targeted Stakeholder Consultation

The Programme for Government commits to reforming and strengthening local government which is the “beating heart of our democracy” and provides many of the essential services on which we all depend.

Earlier this month, the Government agreed the Terms of Reference of a Local Democracy Taskforce which has been convened with the Local Government sector to finalise a programme for the reform and strengthening of local government. Each PPN has been invited by the Taskforce to take part in a consultation offering its position on a series of questions.

The questions are based on the four key pillars that Government has asked the Taskforce to focus on, relating to the structures, functions, finance and governance of local government in Ireland.

In order to respond to this we are asking you the PPN member groups to consider the questions posed and send us your responses to any questions that are relevant to your group and its work. Please forward all responses to this consultation to ppn@kerrycoco.ie before Monday 11th August 2025.
