- Local Resident Representative – Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne MD
- Local Resident Representative – Kenmare MD
- Local Resident Representative – Killarney MD
- Local Resident Representative – Listowel MD
- Local Resident Representative – Tralee MD
- Representative from the Kerry Older People’s Council (Over 55’s Network)
What is the Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP)?
The Local Community Safety Partnership will play a vital role in enhancing community safety nationwide. The concept of community safety is about people being safe and feeling safe in their own community.
The partnership approach is built on two premises:
- Every community is different and has different problems and issues.
- Responding to those problems and issues requires a range of inputs from across Government, local services, voluntary sector and the community itself.
The primary objectives of Kerry Local Community Safety Partnership will be to:
- Prioritise issues identified by the community as safety concerns
- Ensure community engagement and representation on the Safety Partnership
- Improve multi-agency collaboration
- Increase community confidence in service providers.

What skills and attributes are needed for the position ?
- Good communication skills and experience working on boards/ committees
- Experience of working and/or volunteering in the member group the candidate is selected from.
- A keen interest and awareness of safety issues in the area the candidate represents.
- All PPN reps are required to sign the Representatives Charter and to adhere to PPN reporting mechanisms, constitution, policies.
- A commitment to attend meetings and events and participate fully in the duties of the role. There will be regular meetings of the Safety Partnership to include no fewer than four quarterly Safety Partnership meetings, and one public meeting per annum.
- All Kerry PPN representatives are expected to gather and present the views and opinions of member organisations (including but not limited to his/her own group) from the PPN pillar/college or MD area that nominated them.
Nominations Process
Any person who wants to be considered as a Kerry PPN representative for the Kerry Local Community Safety Partnership must:
- Complete the nomination form in full.
- Ensure they understand the responsibilities, time commitment and required meeting attendance relating to the position. Details above.
- Be proposed and seconded by 2 leading members of an appropriate PPN Member group (e.g. Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer).

Nominations Guidelines
- Nominating groups must be registered with Kerry PPN for at least 6 months.
- Groups must be a member of the respective seat e.g. nominations for Killarney MD seat must be a PPN member group from the Killarney MD Area.
- Nominations can only be made with the candidate’s knowledge and approval.
- If we receive more nominations than seats available, elections will take place through online voting.
- A panel will be created following the election process to fill any current or future vacant positions.
- Nominees must have no political affiliations. Kerry PPN is non-political, non-sectarian and adheres to CVSP 8/2018 re: PPNs and Engagement in the Political Process.
- Candidates are requested to submit a short profile (written in the first person) to accompany their nomination form (no more than 200 words, showing relevant experience). This profile will only be made public for the purpose of elections. We may also request a photo for the ballot paper (this is optional).
We encourage nominations from those representing community safety interests.
Consideration will also be given to nominees with a strong mandate to represent specific safety concerns in their area.
