SVP KSAG St Andrew’s Conference

The Organisation was established in 1997. Following much deliberation, research & a feasibility study was concluded that the development of a Community Care Centre would play a pivotal role in meeting the growing needs of this largely rural population, encompassing Killorglin & the wider Mid Kerry area. The local SVP Conference decided that the then vacant Old Carnegie building, conveniently located in the centre of Killorglin town, would be the ideal location for such a facility. The Day Care Centre caters for clients on a weekly basis. Their day starts with morning tea & scones, then a three course lunch & later they are offered afternoon tea. Nurses & carers are available to look after any medical needs or advise on health-related matters, providing showers etc. Other services include, chiropody, hairdressing, arts & crafts, exercises, bingo, musical entertainment. We also provide a Meals on Wheels service. Local secondary school students become involved by visiting the Centre & interacting with the senior citizens. This is usually organised by a teacher from the school who gives of their time to help with an SVP Youth Conference in the school.
