Tralee

Kerry Choral Union

We are a community choir whose members come from all over Kerry. We have a range of ages; our youngest member is 16 and we have several members in their 70s. We have a wide repertoire taking in the classics of the choral tradition, swing, pop, musical theatre and gospel. We do not audition and there is no requirement to be able to read music in order to join. Our aim is to advance our members’ and the public’s education and appreciation of the musical arts by demonstrating how a group of ordinary people drawn together by a shared love of choral music can combine to create the extraordinary in a live concert performance. Nothing brings people together in quite the same way as the shared experience of attending a live music event. We work closely with other community groups and charities to help with their fundraising endeavours. We ourselves are not a charity; we are a not-for-profit organisation. Our weekly rehearsals and concert performances provide exercise for both mind and the body; singing has been shown to provide significant benefit to people’s well-being and health. We are a friendly and welcoming group to all.
