Acquired Brain Injury Ireland
Acquired Brain Injury Ireland are a section 39 non-profit organisation funded to provide community-based rehabilitation services for people living with a brain injury in Ireland. Our mission is to serve, advocate, empower and support people impacted by brain injury to rebuild their lives. Every day we work with survivors of brain injury in their home and in their communities, helping them to work towards achieving their personal goals and maximising their independence. In Kerry, we have over 40 individuals accessing our Community outreach programme across the county. Most of these individuals receive 1:1 support within their own home and community while a portion of these clients also attend a peer support group at our Resource Centre in Castleisland. Peer support is a vital part of a person’s rehabilitation journey as they provide a safe space to learn from and interact with people in similar circumstances. Our groups which are led by survivors, for survivors, offer the chance of developing confidence and social skills as well as learning new skills to manage the impacts of their brain injury into the future.
